Privacy Policy
Last updated: August 2026
Exercise Blocker (“the app”) is built privacy-first. This policy explains how the app handles information on your Mac.
Information we don’t collect
- No personal information — no names, emails, or accounts of any kind.
- No analytics — we do not track how you use the app.
- No servers — the app does not send your data to any server.
- No third-party services — no ad networks, no analytics SDKs.
Camera
The exercise rep counter and the eyes-closed meditation timer use your Mac’s camera with Apple’s on-device frameworks. Video frames are processed in real time on your Mac and are never recorded, stored, or transmitted. The camera is only active during an exercise or meditation block, and the app works without it (a manual fallback is always available).
Face and body data
The app does not collect face data. During an exercise block, Apple’s Vision framework estimates body-joint positions (shoulders, elbows, hips, knees) to count repetitions. During a meditation block, Apple’s Vision framework detects whether your eyes are open or closed to run the timer. All of this happens on your Mac, in memory:
- Collection — no face data or body data is collected. Camera frames are analyzed in real time and immediately discarded; no image, video, or derived biometric data is ever written to disk.
- Use — frames are used solely to count exercise repetitions and to detect eyes-open/eyes-closed during meditation. The app performs no face recognition or identification and cannot identify anyone.
- Storage — nothing derived from the camera is stored except a plain number (your rep count or completed meditation minutes) for streak tracking. Face data is never stored, on the device or anywhere else.
- Retention and deletion — face data is retained for zero time: each frame is discarded the moment analysis completes, before the next frame arrives. There is nothing to delete.
- Sharing — no face data or body data is shared with anyone, including third parties. The app has no servers and sends nothing off the device.
Information stored locally
The following stays on your Mac and never leaves it:
- Your schedules (bedtime, exercise, meditation, meals, parking)
- Preferences and customization options
- Streaks and usage statistics, kept for your own tracking
- Activity logs
Deleting the app removes all of it.
Permissions
- Accessibility — required to block keyboard input during a lockdown. The app does not record keystrokes.
- Camera — used only for on-device rep counting and the meditation timer, as described above.
- Notifications — used for warnings before a block begins.
- Automation (Apple Events) — used to pause Music, Spotify, TV, and browser video when a block begins, so a playing video can’t defeat your own schedule.
Network use
The app has no backend. The only outbound requests are content fetches you initiate — opening a music link or searching a genre you added yourself. These carry no identifiers about you.
Children’s privacy
The app does not knowingly collect any information from anyone, including children under 13.
Changes
If this policy changes, the “Last updated” date above will change with it. We will never make a change that compromises the promise that your data stays on your Mac.
